Trust is more important than cleaning

When it comes to relationships, trust is often cited as the most important aspect. So why should it be any different with a company that you hire, particularly a company that is coming inside your home or business?

At Sno-King Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, we are aware of how important trust is. That's why we put as our top priority. Someone could be the greatest carpet cleaner or tile cleaner in the world, but if you can't trust them then we won't send them into your home. When we are hiring employees, we have and always will do very thorough background checks as well as other means of verifying their character. Also, we are licensed, bonded, and insured, that way if anything were to ever happen, you would never be liable for any of it.

Not only do we strive to be the best carpet cleaning company around, but we want to ensure that you trust us to serve you honestly. We will always do the right thing, no matter the cost to us. Ultimately, serving you well is our goal.

We serve mostly South Snohomish and North King County

This is just a quick post for those that wonder what cities we service. Whether it is carpet cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, or upholstery cleaning, we serve both Snohomish County and King County. That being said, most of our work is where those meet: South Snohomish and North King. We are located in Edmonds, so much of our work and community involvement is in and around Edmonds, but we also serve cities such as Bothell, Kirkland, Seattle, Shoreline, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, and Mountlake Terrace.

So whether you need a great carpet cleaner in Brier, upholstery cleaning in Edmonds, or tile cleaning in Seattle, we have you covered!

"How long will the carpet be wet" or "How does carpet take to dry after cleaning?"

These are two of the most common questions that we receive, and understandably so. If you are having someone come into your home to do work, of course your hope is that they are as minimally intrusive as possible. At Sno-King Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, that is certainly our goal.

Unfortunately, many companies "over wet" the carpet and do not properly extract, which leads to the idea that carpet will be wet for a day or two after cleaning. Make no mistake, if your carpet is wet for that long after cleaning then you are running the risk of mold growth underneath the carpet which can cause a much larger problem down the road.

When we clean, we make sure that our water pressure is specifically set properly for your carpet, and that our extraction is working as it should to ensure that we extract as much water as possible. Also, we place high efficiency air movers on the carpet to help speed up the drying process. All that being said, 8 hours is our maximum drying time, with most carpet drying with 2-4 hours. We not only want you to have clean carpet, but we want you to be able to get your house back to normal as soon as possible.

How to get blood stains out of carpet

Unfortunately, we sometimes see the aftermath of tragic situations. In these times, we try to graciously serve our customers and take care of their cleaning needs. We understand that in these situations, the carpet or upholstery is not the main concern, but we want to be able to help ease the stress of the situation by making the carpet or upholstery look just as good as it did before the accident. Below are photos of before and after our cleaning of a blood stain.

As for home remedies, cold water will almost always rinse the blood right out. However, you want to be very careful to wear the proper gear, as well as have a means to extract the water that you put into the carpet, and dispose of that waste water properly and safely.

If you know anyone who needs blood, or any other stain, cleaned out, let them know that we service both Snohomish County and King County.

Q&A: Should I use vinegar to clean carpet?

Using vinegar to clean carpet is extremely common...and unfortunately extremely unhelpful (in most cases). The explanation is really pretty simple, but very interesting: most spots on carpet are acidic, and vinegar is an acid, so by using vinegar you can actually set stains into the carpet. When we are cleaning, one of the purposes is to neutralize the pH value of what we are cleaning. That is why we almost always start with pre-spray that is on the alkaline side of the pH scale, which goes from 0-14. From 0-6 is acid, and 8-14 is alkaline, with 7 being neutral. So if the average spot is say, a 4, we would want to use an alkaline that is 10 so that it goes back to a neutral 7.

Vinegar is often a 2 or 3 on the pH scale, meaning you would only use it to counteract a fairly strong alkaline. In most cases, the spot you are trying to clean on your carpet with vinegar is an acid, so you are just adding an acid to an acid, making it harder to get out later.

Instead, use our free spot cleaner (neutral pH), and if that doesn't work we can always stop by to take care of the spot!

How to know if you should replace carpet or clean

"Should we get these carpets cleaned or just have them replaced?" This is a very common question that we get, and one that is often misunderstood. Sometimes our customers are very surprised at how much better their carpet can look just after cleaning. Just like the photos show below, we can achieve some amazing results! Before you go tearing out your carpet and replacing it, make sure you take advantage of our offer to do a free inspection and consultation, whether it's for carpet, upholstery, or tile and grout cleaning.

We love 5 star reviews for our carpet cleaning business...if they're honest!

"$25 if you give us a five-star review!" Ever heard that before? Not from us. Some companies offer to pay people or give them a discount in exchange for a good review. This seems to be a mutually beneficial deal: the customer saves or receives money, while the business gets another positive testimonial. While this may not be a blatantly unethical business decision, we at Sno-King Carpet  & Upholstery Cleaning will not do anything that can be interpreted as dishonest or disingenuous. When a customer leaves a review, it is so that others will benefit from their experience whether it was good or bad. If we receive a negative review, it is an opportunity for us to make it right and improve on our mistakes in the future. If we receive a positive review, we know it is sincere because the customer wrote it without any benefit to themselves. Having said that, we certainly appreciate positive reviews just like anyone else does. If we have cleaned your carpet, upholstery, or tile and grout and you were satisfied, please consider leaving a review on our website, Yelp, Google+ or Angie's List page. If there is anything that you were not satisfied with, please let us know shortly after the cleaning so that we can make it right!

Carpet cleaners with no time window? We show up on time!

If you have ever had a service company come to your house to do work, you have likely experienced the frustration of missed appointments and late arrivals. At Sno-King Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, punctuality is one of our primary focuses. When you make an cleaning appointment with us, we understand that your day may very well be planned around that appointment so we do everything we can to make the experience as convenient as possible for you. Rather than scheduling our clients for 1-3 hour time windows like many carpet cleaners do, we schedule an exact time and we show up on time. If for any reason we are running behind, we will always call ahead of time to notify you. Whether you are in our town of Edmonds or anywhere else in Snohomish or King County, our schedule always allows for adequate travel time in between appointments to ensure that we do not inconvenience you. Don't forget, we also offer a free in-home or on-site proposal for your carpet, upholstery or tile cleaning needs. This is one way that we can know ahead of time how long the work will take so that we are not in your way for longer than expected.

Local Edmonds carpet cleaning discounts and specials

Sometimes when we receive a call or an e-mail from a new client, one of the first questions is "What specials or discounts do you have going right now?" While we may have a particular discount for carpet, upholstery, or tile and grout cleaning running at the time that you contact us, I wanted to let you know about the two discounts that we always offer

15% off for an empty home (no furniture): When you are moving in or out of a new residence, we understand that costs add up quickly. Besides, when there is no furniture it is easier for us to clean the carpets and/or tile, so we pass the savings on to you!

20% off for non-profit organizations: We know that non-profit organizations work hard to benefit the local community while often operating on a tight budget, so we give them a discount as a thank you for what they do.

If you every want to make sure you get a great deal with discounts and special offers, always check with Sno-King Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning!

Best way to clean car or vehicle upholstery

Here in the Greater Seattle Area, we are famous for being called the 12s, or the 12th Man. This reputation not only comes from our love for our Seahawks and our loud voices at the games, but also for the pre-game rituals of awesome tailgating! However, tailgating can lead to making chili, which leads to entire bowls of chili being spilled all over the inside of a car, which leads to us being hired to clean up the mess. Or at least that's what happened to one of our clients. Lucky for her (and you) we clean vehicle upholstery! Whether you have a car, truck, van, boat, RV, or any other vehicle, we can clean your upholstery! These surfaces take a beating, particularly when they are used every day. We can clean the seats, floors, ceilings, trunks or any other upholstered or carpeted section. No matter if it's just a normal car at your home, a bus at your office, or a boat in the marina (we serve several clients in the Edmonds Marina), we've got you covered! Call or e-mail us to schedule a free, no-obligation proposal.
