Best chair cleaning method for upholstery

Chair cleaning

Here is a photo of a chair that we cleaned for a client in Edmonds. As you can see, the upholstery at the top of the chair was very heavily used. In fact, the customer said it was their dad's chair and hadn't been cleaned in over 20 years! The build up that you see is from a combination of grease and oil from hair, hair products, dust, etc. We have very thorough cleaning methods for upholstery, and very good results when we do our professional upholstery cleaning. Whether you're in Edmonds, or anywhere in South Snohomish or North King County, we are happy to do chair, couch, or other upholstery cleaning for you!

How to remove pet odors from carpet

We all love our furry friends, but the unfortunate reality is that sometimes they have, umm...accidents. And sometimes those accidents don't smell very good.

There are some things you can do to help. Sop it up with a towel, spray an enzyme on top...but none of these are sufficient for more severe odor problems. The reason is that the odor causing bacteria in urine is hygroscopic, meaning it essentially feeds itself by pulling moisture out of the air. So if not all of the bacteria is removed, it can get worse again after treatment. That is why we have extremely thorough deodorizing methods that remove the odors all the way down to the sub floor. We also have extensive odor removal methods for upholstered couches, chairs and other furniture.

To find out how our process works, either check out our page here or contact us here for a free inspection. We'll be happy to rid your house of pet stains and odors as well!

Best couch cleaning method

There are many different types of upholstery, couches, chairs and other furniture. There are also a few different way to clean upholstery, and of course hiring a top quality professional upholstery cleaning company is the best way to go. What type of cleaning is best really depends upon the fiber and how it is made. Sometimes the tag on the couch or chair will have a cleaning code (such as S or W) which will tell the professional cleaning technician which method of cleaning they can use.

When possible, it's best to use hot water extraction cleaning both for carpet and upholstery. See below the amazing results we can get when hot water extraction cleaning a microfiber couch!

Green carpet cleaning versus regular carpet cleaning

In the Pacific Northwest, we love to do things that are "green": taking care of the environment, recycling, as well as others. When it comes to carpet cleaning, we often are asked if we use green products, or if we use harsh chemicals. The answer to both, in short, is actually no!

As far as green chemicals, I (Kyle) have a done in depth research into what green chemicals actually are, and how much safer they are. The unfortunate truth is that most green cleaners are just watered down versions of regular cleaners. We are not a "certified green" company, strictly because the green chemicals just can't get out some stains. But here's the important part: everything we use is non-toxic! Also, when we are doing your carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning or tile cleaning, we are actually neutralizing the pH value, which means there's only water left behind when we are done!

So the best way to answer this question is to say that everything we use to clean your carpet, upholstery or tile is safe for you, your kids, and your pets.

Carpet Cleaning Myth: Dry Cleaning is Better Than Wet Cleaning

When it comes to carpet cleaning methods, our customers in the Edmonds and surrounding areas often wonder which is best. There are hot water extraction methods (like we use), dry carpet cleaning, bonnet cleaning, shampooing, etc. Most times the concern is whether wet or dry cleaning is better.

Hot water extraction cleaning is recommended by most carpet manufacturers. In fact, many of them will void your carpet warranty if you have any other method of cleaning done. The reason is because hot water extraction, or steam cleaning as it's often referred to, is the most thorough way to clean, and helps your carpet last longer. Rather than using highly chemical compounds like dry cleaning, steam carpet cleaning allows us to use the hot water and vacuum power to extract the dirty soil from your carpet, upholstery, or tile, thus leaving it clean and free of soil.

Pet stain and pet odor removal from carpet

If you have a pet, have you ever experienced an accident on the carpet? No, of course not, our pets would never do such a thing! Right?

Unfortunately, it's estimated that 80% of pets actually do, and they're very good at hiding it. But it's usually the ones that aren't hidden that really get us. Many times it can also not just be pet urine, but pet vomit, pet feces, etc. When these are present in carpet, it's important to have your carpet professionally cleaned to ensure it is sanitary.

That's why we specialize in pet stain and pet odor removal from carpet and upholstery! Below is a before and after photo showing what kind of results we can achieve. If you or someone you know has a pet stain or pet odor, or both, we can help!

How long does professional carpet cleaning take?

When we serve our customers, they often want to know how long the cleaning appointment will take. This is absolutely a fair question; as we are intruding in your home! The answer of course depends on how much carpet we are cleaning, how heavy the soil load is, if we are treating for pet stains in carpet, if we are applying a Scotchgard protector on the carpet, etc. We are very aware that we are in the way while we are cleaning, and make every effort to finish as quickly as possible. However, we do have the most thorough process in the industry, and we won't sacrifice quality for time, because we want your carpet, upholstery, or tile to look as good as it possibly can.

Above anything, our main concern is making you happy. Whatever it takes to do that is what we will do!

Carpet cleaning can save you from the cost of replacing carpet

As you have been making your resolutions, have you considered what you can do to save money? Did you know that your home’s flooring is one of the largest expenses inside your house? Taking care of your floors with proper maintenance is a worthwhile investment and here are some tips to help…

  • Vacuum carpet regularly

  • Always empty or replace your canister or bag when it reaches 75% full

  • Make sure to vacuum the corners with an attachment

  • Slow down on the backstroke to pick up as much debris as possible

  • Have your carpets professionally cleaned. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends a professional cleaning every 8-12 months under “normal” conditions (more often if you have kids, pets, bad weather, etc.)

  • Apply a stain protector like Scotchgard. Your carpet manufacturer recommends reapplication, we suggest every year or two

  • Seal grout on your ceramic or porcelain tile floors, walls and counters. This should be done annually or bi-annually

  • Seal your natural stone. This is generally recommended annually
