Pet and Kid Safe Carpet Cleaning

In the old days, carpet cleaners used some very toxic and harmful chemicals because there weren’t “green” or “non-toxic” solutions that worked very well. Fortunately for all of us, technology has come a long way and now we can achieve amazing carpet cleaning results while not putting the health of you, your children or pets at risk. We use non-toxic chemicals that don’t leave any sticky or harmful residue behind.

In addition to wanting to keep our clients’ homes safe and healthy after carpet or upholstery cleaning, we care about our health as well! We are working hands on with our products every day and want to stay healthy while we clean carpet, upholstery and tile. So if you want a professional carpet cleaning company that will still make your home look clean while not pumping dangerous chemicals into your air, call or text us at 206-801-0161!

Why hire a professional carpet cleaner?

I get it. I am a DYI’er myself. The upside of saving money can often times make it worth it to do a project yourself. The question is, do you have comparable skill, knowledge and equipment as the pros? If so, then you’re really just putting more time in and saving money! If not, the results could be disappointing. Carpet, upholstery and tile cleaning are services that can’t possibly be performed as well with at-home equipment, no matter how high your knowledge level. You can certainly do good maintenance cleaning with home equipment, but the yearly deep cleans should always done professionally.

Top reasons to hire a professional carpet cleaning company:

  • Technicians who are professionally trained and certified (like us!) will know the differences between different types of fibers and what cleaners to use on them. That way you don’t have to purchase multiple different spot cleaners to try to get spots out.

  • When you rent a cleaner from a store, you don’t know where it’s been. Did the last person just rinse out a wine spill, or were they cleaning up dog urine, or worse?

  • Our equipment can penetrate deeper for a thorough clean, creates higher heat (up to 240 degrees!), and has much better extraction power to remove all the soil and let the carpet dry faster. See the photo at the bottom for the machines that we use!

If you ever have questions about our carpet cleaning process, how to get spots out of carpet, or when to use something like a Rug Doctor or Bissell, feel free to reach us at 206-801-0161. Thank you!

Professional carpet cleaning or Bissell or Rug Doctor?

This is one of the most common questions we get, so we like to revisit it every now and then. Should you use a Rug Doctor, a Bissell, or another grocery store rental carpet cleaner, or hire a professional carpet cleaning company? In short, a good, professional carpet cleaner will always be best…but is it always worth the money? Not necessarily.

Rug Doctors and other similar cleaning machine certainly have their place. They are better than just vacuuming, but only if used properly. The problem is, people often put too much cleaner down on the carpet (or in upholstery) and due to the power constraints of an electrically powered cleaning machine, the carpet cleaner might not have enough vacuum power to extract the water. Then the carpet ends up being wet for a long time!

With a professional, you can get a much deeper clean, faster dry times, and a healthier home. But again, this is also only if it’s done correctly! When hiring a carpet cleaning company, make sure they know the proper processes, have the best equipment, and use products that are safe for your home, pets and children!

How intrusive is our carpet cleaning process?

Many times when you are having work done on your house, there is a concern of how intrusive the workers will be. With carpet cleaning, it's certainly understandable to be concerned about the carpet cleaning machine making noise, or all the equipment taking up a lot of space in your home.

"You're never in our way, because we are in your home." That is our mentality when you hire us to clean your carpet, upholstery or tile. The machine that we use is mounted inside our van, so we don't bring a large, loud carpet cleaning machine into your home. Rather, we just have our hoses and some other tools that we try to keep all within a small area so they're not in your way.

Whether you need carpet, tile or upholstery cleaning, we'll always do our best to accommodate your space and make sure we don't intrude any more than necessary!

Carpet Cleaning Myth: Dry Cleaning is Better Than Wet Cleaning

When it comes to carpet cleaning methods, our customers in the Edmonds and surrounding areas often wonder which is best. There are hot water extraction methods (like we use), dry carpet cleaning, bonnet cleaning, shampooing, etc. Most times the concern is whether wet or dry cleaning is better.

Hot water extraction cleaning is recommended by most carpet manufacturers. In fact, many of them will void your carpet warranty if you have any other method of cleaning done. The reason is because hot water extraction, or steam cleaning as it's often referred to, is the most thorough way to clean, and helps your carpet last longer. Rather than using highly chemical compounds like dry cleaning, steam carpet cleaning allows us to use the hot water and vacuum power to extract the dirty soil from your carpet, upholstery, or tile, thus leaving it clean and free of soil.

How long does professional carpet cleaning take?

When we serve our customers, they often want to know how long the cleaning appointment will take. This is absolutely a fair question; as we are intruding in your home! The answer of course depends on how much carpet we are cleaning, how heavy the soil load is, if we are treating for pet stains in carpet, if we are applying a Scotchgard protector on the carpet, etc. We are very aware that we are in the way while we are cleaning, and make every effort to finish as quickly as possible. However, we do have the most thorough process in the industry, and we won't sacrifice quality for time, because we want your carpet, upholstery, or tile to look as good as it possibly can.

Above anything, our main concern is making you happy. Whatever it takes to do that is what we will do!

Rug Doctor rental carpet cleaner vs. professional carpet cleaning

There are a lot of DIYers out there, and the carpet cleaning side of things is no different. I get it, I do lot of work on my house myself in order to save money. While rental carpet cleaning machines like Rug Doctors certainly do a better job than vacuuming and they do have their place, there are many things they can't do. Below is a list of a few of the differences between hiring a professional carpet cleaner in the Edmonds area and renting a Rug Doctor.

  • Rug Doctors don't allow for dwell time, which is a key component of the cleaning process for carpet, upholstery, and tile

  • Rug Doctors don't clean as deep, as they only have up to 28 psi, while we run at about 350-400 psi for carpet, and up to 1000 psi for tile.

  • The extraction on a professional hot water extraction carpet cleaning machine is much more powerful, typically at 20+ horsepower, while Rug Doctors have 1.74 horsepower.

Edmonds carpet cleaner with good reviews

Word of mouth, reviews, and the like are all common ways to find a good company. But sometimes there's a hitch: cleaning companies that pay their customers to write them good online Yelp, Google, or Angie's List reviews. We have never, and will never, pay you to write a review for us. Sure, if we clean your carpet, upholstery, or tile, we'd love for you to write us a review on Google or another review site. However, we simply feel that it is unethical to pay you for your opinion, and want to make sure that all of our great reviews of our cleaning are completely honest. When you hire Sno-King Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, we want you to be confident that we do everything in an ethical and respectable manner!
